As we travel statewide and meet voters, we are often asked the same questions over and over again about where we stand on critical issues that are admittedly not issues that relate directly to the Arizona Corporation Commission.  Still, they are important issues to our state and country, they form the backbone of our party's platform, and they are important to the voters we meet, so we thought it might be helpful to put our positions here on our website for those of you that are interested.

Illegal Immigration:  We get more questions on this issue than any other and we always point out that there really isn't much the ACC can do about this problem.  That said, we are all border hawks who favor a strong and secure border, oppose public benefits for those in this country illegally, and support employer sanctions.  Ours is also the only team of supporters of Prop 200 which required identification at the polls and which denied public benefits to those here illegally.

Taxes:  If you are talking about income taxes, then there still isn't anything the ACC can do to help.  But our team's opposition to high taxes is evidenced by our opposition to the renewable energy mandate that was passed by the current ACC.  This is nothing more than a giant tax increase on the ratepayers of Arizona to force them to pay for technologies that are not yet feasible or competitive.  These mandates allow a few politicians to promote themselves as being "green" at the expense of the ratepayers, who will pay hundreds of millions of dollars in increased utility costs in an effort to reach a goal that everyone agrees is currently unattainable.  That is why we would repeal the mandate and replace it with incentives to companies who can provide alternative energy at competitive costs.  And, as always, we are the only team to take this position.

Sanctity of Life:  We are the pro-life team for the ACC.  The fact that we are the only pro-life team for the ACC has generated a great deal of grassroots support for our effort and we are grateful to those groups and individuals who have signed on to our team.

2nd Amendment:  We are all strong proponents of our constitutional rights, notably our second amendment rights.  As gun owners, we understand how important it is to be able to protect one's own family and property, and we oppose restrictions on those rights.
